Its reunion week here in the Rowe household! Julie & Jack left wintery Fairbanks behind, & Astrid & Matt gave up cool but sunny skies in Calgary for a rainy long weekend in the south. Of course, just as in grad school in Edmonton, Devon was right in the mix with all the girls, but new additions Jack & Matt won alot of the female attention this time.
So far we've had pretty good weather: not too much rain & some pretty mild temps, but unfortunately the travel antics & big storm on Wednesday caused all of us to nap through a pretty fantastic afternoon yesterday. We're hoping that the kiddos (& moms) will be rested by today & ready for a trip out of the house to enjoy some of what Portland & Vancouver have to offer.
The play room has been a hit (even though the "pick up your toys" rule only lasted about 8 hours total). Avery is doing very well as the big kid, playing with 17-mo-old Jack & 7-mo-old (today) Matt, but doesn't quite have all the nuances down. (She's exhibiting an annoying habit of wanting to play with the baby toys too much.) All the troops enjoyed (or at least tolerated) a super (jetted) bubble bath, and Jordan scored some nana Noma snuggletime while the bigger kids finally made it out to the playset last night. And I got to cook a whole meal without having to stop every 1 minute to deal with kids (I certainly never thought I'd be saying that!!).
All day long we compared notes about our obsessive toy-set habits (making sure all the letters to the fridge magnets were accounted for, all the stacking cups were stacked in order, all the temporarily unmatched socks are in their designated spot, waiting for their twins to turn up, etc, etc, etc.)
I have a few pics from the day, but will have to post them later.
