I knew we might be in a little trouble when, despite her enthusiasm all day, she told me as we got in the car that "Maybe this isn't such a great idea." She did spend the first half of class sitting on the steps and refusing to do what the other kids were doing, but she finally got into the groove and floated around on her back and tummy with the teacher.
That took a lot of encouragement from me, and, well, basically a bribe for ice cream when we were done. Kelly & I planned to take them to Ice Cream Renaissance when we were done anyway, but I had to spill the beans early to get her to take part on the lesson.
Kate ordered S'mores, and Avery had a Backwards Ice Cream Sandwich (2 scoops, with a cookie in the middle).
After ice cream we walked down Main Street for a few minutes. They stopped to look in the window of a ceramic store, and while they were there this kitty cat jumped in the window to have a look at them. They LOVED it!
A big hug for best friends.
I have to admit that I have a hard time understanding her, uh, hesitation (caution, common sense, whatever you want to call it). I am the type of person to try anything at least once (including sky diving twice), so her timidity at trying new adventures and taking new challenges escapes me. Except when it comes to food -- then I totally understand. . . .
*She HATED her bath until she was about 1.5 years, and it's still not the highlight of her day, so a swimming pool must be pretty intimidating to her.
