Thankfully the KidKart is easy to get her in and out of. It took about an hour (and a toolbox) for the PTs to adjust it just right, then about an hour for Devon and I to try to figure out how to fold it up and take the seat out so we can cram it in the
Pilot*. But, overall we love it. It doesn't take up much more room than the highchair it replaced, and it's much easier to roll around. She also sits up properly in it, and it's very adjustable. There are a few accessories that I need to get (particularly a booster base for inside the house, and a basket for the bottom to hold things on the wheelchair base). Now the battle begins, getting the insurance company to pay for the extras, since they didn't have to pay for the chair, I can imagine it's going to be very complicated for their automated computer processing system, that never seems to grasp what's going on with Jordan.
Gorgeous weather yesterday -- rain by the time we woke up this morning. But we did get a sun break in the afternoon, so Avery got to go outside and jump jump jump on the trampoline, meanwhile, Jordan and I sunned ourselves for a hefty dose of vitamin D & some color on our pasty, ghostly white skin. Rolling her out in the KidKart was a piece of cake. I think we're going to work on a ramp for the mudroom this weekend, too.
Anyway, although I'd rather Jordan just walk around, I'm pretty happy with the wheelchair. It works so well for her, and it's not as big & bulky as I thought it would be. Yeah KidKart.
*I love the Pilot, but it's gotta go. As we loaded the wheelchair into the Pilot for the first time on Monday I was already picturing the ad to sell the Pilot, and wondering: Odyssey or Sienna. Sienna seems to be the overwhelming minivan of choice for other KidKart families, but since we love the Pilot so much, I think we'll have to try a few Odysseys, too.
Ryan & Julie give it the good ol' teamwork to get Jordan properly fitted into her new KidKart.
Enjoying the sun while eating on the deck, just a few hours after getting the KidKart. Tuesday on the deck, still lovin' the sun. Avery put her sunglasses on for her, very thoughtful. Hanging out in the house, too.
