Medically Intensive

It's a good thing we had a good, restful, sunny vacation in Orange County last week. After we got home on Tuesday the push was on; we had PT, OT, pre-op labs, and 2 doctor appointments in 3 days. But this week might be our all-time record:
  • Monday: Devon & Leslie, opthamologists (yikes, and now that I'm 36 I'm going to need glasses for my astigmatism!)
  • Tuesday: Jordan, pediatrician follow-up, then Ear, Nose, & Throat doctor
  • Wednesday: Jordan, pre-surgery PT & preparing the house for 6-weeks in a Spica cast ("wait 'til you see Jordan in a cast from her armpits to her toes" Avery keeps telling everyone)
  • Wednesday: Sierra & Mojave, yearly trip to the veterinarian
  • Thursday: Jordan, pre-op appointment (3 hours), then wheelchair clinic to get Jordan fitted for a real wheelchair before the Spica cast
  • Friday: Jordan, "tubes in adnoids out" surgery (the ENT said today that she needs this before her hip surgery)
  • Monday: Jordan, right hip surgery (open reduction of the hip joint, femoral osteotomy, pelvic osteotomy)
  • Monday through Friday: Shriner's Hospital recovery
  • 6 weeks+: Life at home with Jordan in a Spica cast
The worst part of all of this is the severe home-health nursing shortage. We only end up getting 4 or 5 days of help per week as it is, and with this cast we're going to need more, as Jordan's going to be even more "homebound." Oh well, I guess it'll give me a chance to catch up on things around the house. I think I'm gonna need another vacation after all of this!
