Scary Things

[from 22 December 2007] A 4-year-old -- that has me trembling in my boots. She's such a big girl now, and she's growing up so fast! She likes to tell everyone that "Daddy & I like scary things," which really means that they like to watch Scooby Doo cartoons together. The other "scary thing" in her life are dinosaurs. She loves them. So, that was the theme of her family birthday party this year. She wanted her dinos on her cake. Nana Noma managed to find some other party favors to go with it. No princesses in this house, I guess.

It was a busy day: she started off with gymnastics class (she dressed herself, if you couldn't tell) while Jordan & I went to the doctors office, hoping to keep her out of the hospital. Then we went swimming at the Firstenburg Community Center with grandma Linda, grandpa Earl, Kelly & Kate. Finally we had lunch at her favorite restaurant: Sweet Tomatoes (it's a soup & salad bar place, and she loves it!). Then we went home and opened presents & had cake with grandmas and grandpa.
"Happy Dos" all around!A healthy dessert before cake at home
Opening her gifts from Kelly, Ed, & Kate before they left the restaurantSilly girlsOpening her gifts at home: this is her "blog" camera -- even though she doesn't really know how she's supposed to blog with it, she still loves it
When she can't go to the real carousel, now she has this one to play withA new library full of Alaska booksJordan hung in there & stayed home all through the holidays, but the thermometer and Tylenol were never far from hand
Cake Time!
Eating the frosting off the dinosaurs was the best part for Avery
The next night, when she got some birthday cake for dessert after dinner, she went and found a "happy do" to wear with it -- the party never ends!

Yum! Looks great. Thanks for all ofyour Avery and Jordan updates. It is good to get the run down. What fun geology toy did Avery get? I couldn't tell what it was.
