I was hoping to update the blog today with pictures and stories of the Pend Oreille County Fair, but Jordan had other ideas. We got home from our long weekend in eastern Washington last night, an the whole crew (except me) was swimming in snot. Avery & Devon were clearly suffering from allergies all weekend, and not wanting to be left out, Jordan was very snotty, too. Shortly after we got home I noticed her snot was turning yellow, and then she started retching (not just her usual coughing & choking on mucous). She was unable to keep any food down, and by the time she started having seizures around midnight she was shaking continuously. I'm not entirely convinced she was having a tonic-clonic seizure (perhaps she was shaking hard from her minor fever) but regardless, continual shaking for more than 5 minutes is always a call to 9-1-1, in case it is a status epilepticus seizure (which luckily she hasn't had, yet).
So, off to the "hoftible" -- that's what Avery calls it. Jordan put on quite a show for the neighbors (fire truck & ambulance), and at the hospital (the retching & her general lack of development scared them quite a bit it seemed). Since the shaking went away before she got there, and because she didn't seem particularly post-ictal, they admitted her for "respiratory distress." In usual Jordan fashion no one really knows what is going on, other than that she's sick! She's pathetically sick, actually. Her chest x-ray was clear for pneumonia (again), but her blood & urine work-up suggested an early bacterial infection, so she got a shot of antibiotics that should do the trick, just in case that is the problem. She also got an anti-nausea med last night, and the retching has stopped. Phew! Now, if someone would please, please, please turn off the snot factory! Hopefully we'll be home soon (and I'll update about the fair).
