Out With The Old, In With The New

Saturday night Avery dropped our almost 5-year-old Nikon CoolPix 4500. That thing has been a workhorse for us, or maybe a work"cat," because that was definitely it's 9th life used up. The bizarre buzzing noise emitting from the camera was proof -- cameras aren't supposed to alarm like that. It was screaming for mercy! So tonight it was time to take the plunge to the next level: A Nikon D40 SLR. It's a "beginner" model as far as SLRs go, but I'm just so excited.
As soon as the battery was charged I was snapping pics here and there. I got two lenses, and now can shoot 18 to 55 mm, or 55 to 200 mm. I LOVE it. Also, I got the full 3-year, full replacement ultra-super-duper warranty, in case any more kids fingers go touching things. . . although I did make a point of making sure Avery counted all of her fingers, and told her if she wants to keep them, she needs to keep them OFF mommy's new "toy."

Devon really wanted to make an impression as I snapped the first photo with it.
And the second, tooFinally that got boring and he went back to work
Avery sleeping away, with chocolate syrup on her chin -- her treat for 2 hours of good-ish behavior in the camera stores Jordan dozing as wellAvery's clown pumpkin, on various settings I have yet to read about or learn aboutSierra was not impressed, and just wanted to go back to sleep
Mojave was licking his chops, standing up on the counter (naughty kitty, as usual)And during all of this, Devon was still working awayFinally he wanted to give it a try: "Still, Red Fruit" by Devon
