Avery has been coughing for a month. She's a bit lethargic here and there, and has a nasty cough at night and in the morning, but otherwise has not been acting sick. Oh, and she's been coughing herself into barfing fits almost every night for the last week, but other than that she hasn't been acting sick. Well, Jordan had a fever of 104'F again yesterday, so I talked to her pediatrician yesterday, and decided to bring both girls in this morning. Avery has a sinus infection, and it's the post-nasal drip that's causing the cough at night & in the morning. Amoxicillin for her. And Jordan has a nasty (pussy) ear infection in both ears, worse in the left. Amoxicillin for her, too. Unfortunately it's impossible to tell when Jordan's ears are infected, so it was a good thing for the fever. But, a high fever like that isn't typical of an ear infection, so we did a urinalysis, too, just to make sure she's not having a UTI that we don't know about (and to watch for them in the future). 2 weeks ago her fever had no source, and seemed to be related to a mystery virus. But this time it definitely led us to find her ear infection. So, fevers can be good, too, I guess.
Bummer: this was the night Avery ate cheese, crackers, and cupcakes for dinner, then coughed herself until she barfed. Since that night she's been able to hit the "bucket" & keep herself and the bed clean. Except tonight -- she accidentally dropped the bucket off the bed, but at least it spilled on the floor. Devon was home from SoCal just in time to clean it up -- his turn.
*Hopefully one with better customer service, but I doubt it could be worse than what we just got rid of
