First it was "a touch of" pneumonia, which is now full-blown pneumonia. Now it's being in the PICU. 2 firsts for Jordan in 3 days.
She was miserable & pathetic yesterday, but about midnight things went from bad to worse, so I called for an ambulance and we rushed down to our local children's hospital in Portland. She was BAD! The EMTs wanted to intubate her in the living room, but we convinced them to just put a bag on her and get her to the hospital. They also wanted to waste time starting an IV (a monumental task even for the IV team at the hospital), but after 5 minutes in the back of the ambulance & alot of convincing from me they decided they'd let the ER worry about that, too.
She's doing better today, and we're hopeful that she'll be out of the PICU and onto the regular floor tonight or tomorrow. The PICU has been a huge hassle, and personally I don't think she's getting the level of care in there that our insurance company is paying for, so for all the discomfort I'd rather be in a regular room (or have nurses respond more appropriately to her monitor beeps & alarms, and particularly her coughing and suctioning needs).
Of course, wouldn't you know it, it's a glorious day outside finally, and I'm trapped in the hospital with limited computer access. I will try to keep the blog updated at least daily. Thanks for checking in on us!
