Nice Enough For The Park

The weather wasn't great today -- sunny, but cool when the clouds rolled over the sun. But it didn't stop us from getting in a couple of hours at Felida Park. While there a boy named Jack tried to teach the other kids how to kick a soccer ball. He was like Bobby Knight, and when the ball kept veering away from the goal with an errant kick, he was right there to give the offender another chance. Boy was he going a bit crazy when the girls thought perhaps throwing the ball toward the goal would be easier. . . .

There were certainly lots of funny faces all around, too.
At home they worked on a Care Bears puzzle together, Kate's first

My Favorite Mural

I found this mural driving home from the hospital in north Portland. I've driven past it hundreds of times, and always wanted to take Avery & Jordan in white clothes to pose in front of it. Perhaps I'll do that someday, but last month Kelly & I were in Portland with Avery & Kate and our cameras, so we gave it a trial run.
Ew, licking the lollipop!

Ughhhh, there's the other camera! There's no escape!

Avery is still obsessed with "The Black Stylin' " -- even if she can only ride him at the arcade or the carousel. This is how Alec does it to make Black go fast!
Kate was with us & more excited about the motorcycle & the mini-carousel
A couple of weeks ago we went to the carousel while we were out running errands. So much for favorite pony Amy, Avery will only ride a black horse now.Avery found grandma Linda's pink cowgirl hat in the back of their van when they were visiting last week & thought it was pretty cool.
Then she grabbed the cell phone and took this picture of me

Busy Weekend!

Same old, same old. . . .

After gymnastics on Friday we had a quick ice cream social at Dairy Queen, then settled in for a hilarious evening at Once Upon A Palace Purple, presented by Magenta Theatre, written & directed by our own friend & neighbor Jaynie. Avery loved it, especially the songs & the fairy godmother, but nothing was as exciting as seeing her friend Emma (Jaynie's daughter) on stage as Princess Burgundy. It was great!

On Saturday we went to Heather & Eric's housewarming party in Brightwood. We had a great evening hanging out on the deck & Avery made a few new friends and found an all new audience for her antics. The woods were a hit, with great adventures for Avery, Teigan, & Aidan, and whoever they could convince to go with them to slay monsters or fight giant orange furry spiders.

Aiden wanted in the picture, too
Off on the next adventure in the woods
Even Barbie was enjoying the deck. . . .
On Sunday our old friend Mark ("Skids") showed up for a visit, after giving a talk at Western Oregon University on Friday. The weather held its own so we spent a few hours out on the deck at a local restaurant right along the Columbia river. When we got home we ran into all the neighbors while lounging around on our front deck, and stayed up late reminiscing and catching up.
Marjory & DD came for a visit. Both Avery & Jordan got to pet him
Neighbor Sarah & Avery give Devon some kisses
Even Jordan partook in the chocolate/fruit fondue, until she was too tired to go on.
We didn't get much done on the remodeling downstairs, but we did get the sink & toilet set up in the right spot in the bathroom. Just waiting for the plumber now.

Hey, Mom, Look At Me!

I have no idea if these will work -- just tryin' out the new Flip Videos. Please e-mail me if theydon't work for you, so I can try to fix them.

Jordan's red balloon -- she's just glancing at it, which is normal according to the vision therapist. But she's moving it all around, and that's also making the bell jingle. (This one drags on for awhile, but I haven't had a chance to get into the editing software . . . . )

Here's a pink boa I got at Party City yesterday. It's really soft, and she was able to grab it a couple of times today. She's going a little crazy here, because she was also chewing on her banana (multi-tasking) and oops! got her arm turned around backwards while pulling on it.
